The Editor’s Margin does not share names or contact information with third parties.
Maria is a writer and editor from Pennsylvania. Growing up in the Caribbean, she experienced a wealth of culture and different ways of life. Upon returning to the U.S., she moved ten more times before settling down. Words were her only constant.
Maria started reading at age four and discovered writing at fourteen. She has been addicted to watching ink fill a page ever since. She’s a lover of beauty, people, and the Oxford comma.
She trained as an editorial intern, became an assistant to an academic editor, and eventually founded The Editor’s Margin in 2025.
Her favorite genres to edit and read include: Fantasy, Literary Fiction, Memoir, Thematic Non-Fiction, Poetry, or any faith-based work.
The editor behind it all—
Maria VerMulm
“My greatest goal in life is to grow my soul, that I might be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19). I’m convinced that the best way to do that is by exposing myself to as much truth, beauty, and goodness as possible so that I can reflect my Creator and bring Him glory.”
“When I’m not at my desk or down by the creek with my nose in a book, you might find me: cooking, hosting friends, rock climbing, camping, or on an adventure with my husband.”
Even the margins tell a story.
The “editor’s margin” was extra space that writers left blank on the edges of their manuscript so the editor had room to write critiques and feedback.
Thoughts are scribbled in the margins; ideas take shape, and words learn their power.
At The Editor’s Margin, editing is not just grammatical corrections; it’s collaboration between editor and author.
I bring the reliability of academic training and faithful values, along with enthusiasm for your growth as a writer. If you need thoughtful feedback and true encouragement, you’re in the right place!
Whether it’s a fiction, fantasy, memoir, or nonfiction, I approach each project with the same care: honoring your voice and ensuring quality
because words matter.
What is an editor’s margin?
Christian Editing Services
At The Editor’s Margin, I believe words matter because truth matters. Writing is not only craft, but also calling—to speak and share the truth. Whether you are writing faith-based fiction, Christian nonfiction, devotionals, Bible studies, sermons, or spiritually informed academic work, my role as an editor is to help you communicate your message in alignment with truth, goodness, and beauty.
I work with writers who want their work to honor God while also meeting professional publishing standards.
Faith-centered writing warrants editing that respects both the spiritual message and technical excellence. I want to help you write words of truth and goodness and do it beautifully.
We create because God creates; we are made in His image. And we honor Him in our feeble attempts to mimic Him and create beauty.
Why Christian Authors Choose The Editor’s Margin
My approach to editing is thoughtful and respectful. I do not impose my own theological beliefs, but I do not hesitate to address ideas that could be 1) taken the wrong way, or 2) inadvertently heretical or unbiblical. I do not rewrite theology or doctrine, but I help ensure it is communicated clearly, logically, and responsibly.
Christian authors work with me because I offer:
Respect for biblical accuracy and theological nuance
Clear, constructive feedback grounded in professional editing standards
An editorial partnership, not just a transactional service
Experience across Christian fiction, nonfiction, devotionals, and faith-driven content
Christian editing calls for theological sensitivity, contextual awareness, and a knowledge and respect for Scripture and church history. I provide Christian editing services that understand the importance of being faithful to the Bible and representing Christ well.
